Yawar Abbas
Syed Yawar Abbas (b. 1995) was born in the village of Sultan, Parachinar, where the landscape, its people, and their dignified way of life continue to shape his artistic sensibility. Deeply inspired by his hometown’s natural beauty, as well as by the works of El Greco—particularly The View of Toledo—and Jean-François Millet, Abbas approaches painting as an emotional and sensory exploration of nature.
He received his primary education in Parachinar and graduated with distinction in Painting from the National College of Arts, Lahore, in 2019. Currently based in Lahore, Abbas continues to refine his practice through sustained studio work.
His artistic journey began with observing the world in monochrome, attentively registering the subtle sensations of nature. This perspective gradually evolved into an engagement with vibrant colour, textures, and materials, most notably through floral forms. His paintings function as emotional melodies, evoking birdsong, shifting light, and the quiet rhythms of the natural world. While such elements may not always appear literally, their presence is deeply felt. Abbas’s work reflects a transition from black and white to colour, symbolising time, transformation, and the enduring force of creativity. Beneath the surface lies a quiet anxiety and emotional unrest, often emerging in dim, rare light, ultimately giving rise to a surrounding atmosphere of charm, intensity, and excitement.
