
Sana Arjumand
Sana Arjumand is a contemporary visual artist from Pakistan, renowned for her evocative exploration of mysticism, spirituality, and cultural identity through her art. Born in Karachi in 1982, she currently resides and works in Islamabad.
Education and Early Career
Arjumand pursued her O-levels at The City School in Islamabad and A-levels through Alta Vista College. She furthered her studies in linguistics at London University and achieved distinctions in art and sociology from Cambridge University. In 2005, she graduated with a degree in painting from the National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore. Between 2007 and 2009, she served as an assistant lecturer at NCA's Rawalpindi campus.
Artistic Themes and Style
Arjumand's work delves into themes of gender politics, identity, religion, and spirituality. Her recent pieces often feature birds, notably the mythic Hoopoe, symbolising spiritual transcendence and purity. She employs various media, including oil on canvas and mixed media, to convey her narratives.

Arjumand has showcased her art both locally and internationally. She has held solo exhibitions in cities like New York and Sydney and participated in group shows across London, Seoul, Amman, Delhi, and Mumbai.
