
Rameen Rizvi
Rameen Ahmed Rizvi is a Lahore-based visual artist born and raised in the cultural heart of Pakistan. At 24, she has already carved a unique space for herself in the contemporary art scene. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the prestigious National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, where she honed her skills in both traditional and digital media.
Artistic Practice and Themes
Rizvi’s work centres on storytelling, exploring themes of memory, connection, and personal history. Her practice bridges traditional mediums such as pen and ink and colour pencils with digital illustration, animation, and photography. Her narratives often arise from personal experiences, bringing emotional depth and authenticity to her illustrations. She builds fantastical yet intimate visual languages to convey stories from her life and surroundings.
Notable Projects and Exhibitions
Her BFA thesis, In the Loving Memory of, was a deeply personal project chronicling her relationship with her dog of thirteen years, Molly. Through pen and ink illustrations, Rizvi mapped Molly’s life alongside her own, revisiting childhood memories and experiences of loss. In 2023, her 2D animation installation in collaboration with OSCH (Crafting Histories) was exhibited at Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery at NCA, bringing to life the untold stories of the women in her family.
Advocacy, Community, and Future Vision
Rameen is also passionate about animal welfare and uses her creative tools to raise awareness and foster community through storytelling. Her art often includes her dog chow and reflects on everyday experiences like walks through local parks or neighbourhood encounters. She aims to build a space for empathy, shared stories, and emotional connection, encouraging others to engage in similar creative and compassionate acts.
