Hooria Khan
Hooria Khan (b. 1996, Rahim Yar Khan) is a Lahore-based visual artist who graduated with distinction in Miniature Painting from the National College of Arts, Lahore, in 2021. Alongside her major, she pursued minors in taxidermy, calligraphy, and photography, and received consecutive merit awards throughout her academic tenure at NCA.
Her practice extends beyond academia through active participation in exhibitions and collaborative projects. She was part of the Maktab project under the mentorship of Imran Qureshi and contributed to Pakistan’s pavilion at the Dubai Expo 2020 in collaboration with artist Akif Suri. Hooria has exhibited widely across Pakistan, including at O Art Space, Lahore; Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Islamabad; Full Circle Gallery, Karachi; Canvas Gallery, Lahore; Satrang Gallery, Islamabad; Muse Art Gallery, Lahore; Dastaangoi Gallery, Islamabad; and Numaish Gah.
Central to her artistic practice is an exploration of ritualistic stereotypes embedded within society. Her work brings together organic and inorganic elements to reveal overlooked nuances and contradictions within everyday life. Through this layered approach, Hooria Khan seeks to challenge perceptions and provoke introspection, encouraging viewers to re-examine the complexities of their social and cultural environments.
