Hassan Rana

Hassan Rana is a Pakistani visual artist and educator, graduating in Fine Arts from the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, in 2004, with a specialization in Printmaking. His practice spans diorama, painting, printmaking, photography, and mixed media.

Artistic Practice

Rana's work is rooted in a surreal and contemplative visual language, exploring the space between the conscious and subconscious, memory, intuition, spirituality, time, and inner silence. Architectural spaces and familiar objects — doors, staircases, chairs, clocks, mirrors, and abandoned interiors — recur throughout his practice, transformed into metaphors for psychological and spiritual states.

His recent work increasingly focuses on three-dimensional dioramas and miniature environments, combining weathered architectural surfaces with carefully constructed objects. Through these quiet, often uninhabited spaces, Rana creates scenes suspended between the real and imagined, where physical reality becomes a threshold to inner experience.

Teaching

Alongside his studio practice, Rana teaches drawing and painting and mentors emerging art students.

Exhibitions

His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Pakistan and internationally.
