Early Life and Education
Born in 1994 in Lahore, Pakistan, Asif's passion for art began in childhood, often painting on her bedroom walls. She pursued her early education in Fine Arts at Queen Mary College in 2013 and later graduated from the College of Art and Design, Punjab University, in 2017. She further honed her skills by completing a Master's in Visual Arts from the National College of Arts in 2022.
Artistic Themes and Style
Asif's work is characterized by a focus on the human form, particularly the torso, to delve into societal norms and personal identity. Her thesis, titled "Paint the Pait (belly)," featured nudes of bulky bodies, challenging conventional beauty standards. She frequently portrays bold and confident female figures adorned with tattoos and piercings, symbolizing a break from traditional taboos.
In addition to exploring human anatomy, Asif addresses environmental issues through her art. Her paintings, such as "Creating a New Mountain" and "Rain of Disaster," depict the impact of pollution on natural landscapes, highlighting the consequences of human negligence on the environment.
