Ali Gillani (Lahore) - NCA Miniature Painting graduate, 2021, thesis Demons are Sacred. Works in gold leaf, gouache, and archival ink on wasli, exploring the Sufi confrontation between Nafs (ego-self) and Ruh (soul). Held a residency at the State Bank of Pakistan Museum and named its Artist of the Year (2022); that year’s solo All We Need, curated by Asma Ibrahim, placed his work in the museum’s permanent collection alongside a piece at Manchester Museum, UK. His 2023 solo Self and Cosmos (Chawkandi Art, Karachi) was accompanied by a published catalog and critical response from Amra Ali.
