Ajab Khan was born in 1964 in Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan. He is a self-taught visual artist whose artistic journey began at a young age. As a child, he used fabric dyes to colour black-and-white photographs from his family, which sparked his interest in art. Although he pursued a Master's degree in Urdu literature, his true passion lay in the field of painting.

He received his formal artistic training from the renowned Pakistani artist Iqbal Shahid, who became his mentor.
