
Abu Hanzla
Abu Hanzla is a contemporary Pakistani visual artist and educator based in Faisalabad. He specializes in oil painting, focusing on cityscapes, landscapes, and spiritual themes. His work is characterized by a blend of realism and impressionism, often exploring the interplay between light, architecture, and nature.
Early Life and Education
Born and raised in Faisalabad, Hanzla was inspired by his father to pursue art. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, majoring in painting, from the Institute of Art & Design at Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) between 2015 and 2019. Since December 2019, he has been serving as a visiting lecturer at Lahore College for Women University.
Artistic Practice and Themes
Hanzla's artistic oeuvre primarily encompasses oil paintings that depict cityscapes and landscapes, often rendered with realism and impressionistic techniques. His works frequently explore themes related to environmental concerns and humanity's relationship with nature. Notably, his series "Entrance to Heaven I-II" portrays monumental visions of the afterlife through archways leading to serene, forested gardens, symbolizing openness and timelessness.
